1. God: There is one God, who is the creator of the heavens and the earth. He is the God called Yahweh in the Old Testament and is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:3). He is also referred to as “the Holy Spirit” in the New Testament (Matthew 1:18, Acts 5:3, Hebrews 9:8). He is all love (1 John 4:8) and all light (1 John 1:5). There is no evil or darkness in him.
2. God revealed: The true God chose to reveal himself through the stars and planets (Psalm 19:1-4), His inspired scriptures (2 Peter 1:21; Galatians 1:11-12; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13), His only-begotten Son Jesus Christ (John 1:14), and by way of men and women today who live and speak the truth of His Word (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).
3. The Bible: The Bible, the Scriptures, are “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16), perfect in their original writing, without flaw or contradiction, and provide the only sure and steadfast basis for faith. Men wrote in the language and culture of their times, but what they wrote was only that which was inspired by God (2 Peter 1:21). Understanding scripture is attainable by applying logic and sound principles of biblical interpretation, in conjunction with the spirit of God within us. We encourage every Christian believer to examine the scriptures themselves, to determine whether what someone has taught them is truth or error (Acts 17:11).
4. Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16). He is the chosen Messiah, prophesied throughout the Old Testament scriptures. He is God’s solution to the sin of Adam (Romans 5:10-19). Jesus was born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:30-38), lived a sinless life, suffered and died as payment for all men’s sins, was raised from the dead (Acts 3:13-15), and is now ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God and currently serves at his position as head of the Church (Ephesians 1:20-22). He is the one mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).
5. Salvation: Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (John 14:6). Salvation is by grace and not by any works of man (Ephesians 2:8-9). A person receives salvation when he confesses Jesus as Lord and believes that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9, 10). At that time, he receives the gift of holy spirit (Acts 2:38). He is “saved,” “born again” (1 Peter 1:23), “sealed” (Ephesians 1:13), “clothed with power from on high” (Acts 1:8), “baptized with holy spirit” (Acts 2:38)and is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
6. The Body of Christ, the Church: The “church” to which believers belong today is the “Body of Christ” (Ephesians 1:23, Ephesians 5:30), which began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). The “mystery” or “secret” revealed in Ephesians is that Jews and Gentiles would be joint heirs in one Body, no longer separated (Ephesians 2:11-18). This sacred secret includes the truth that believers have the very nature of Christ within them (Colossians 1:26-27) and had Satan known this he would not have crucified Christ (1 Corinthians 2:7-8).This secret is not revealed in the Old Testament or the Gospels and was first made known to the Apostle Paul. His Church Epistles, Romans through Thessalonians, form the nucleus of the Scripture written to the Church.
7. Members of the Body of Christ: A person becomes a member of the Body of Christ at the moment of their salvation. Every individual in the Body of Christ has a very important ministry that God has prepared for him to do (Ephesians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 12:18, Romans 12:4-8). From the point of salvation on, a believers’ goal should be to seek fellowship with and become mature in his relationship with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:9; Colossians 1:28, Ephesians 4:1). As his Lord, it is Jesus Christ’s responsibility to direct the role and function of each individual in the Body of Christ.
8. Equipping Ministries: It is Jesus Christ who ordains the equipping ministries of the church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:7-16). Those who have these ministries are called to these positions in order that they may serve the members of the Body of Christ. Their primary function is to assist every member in doing the ministry God has called them to do. God designed the entire Body of Christ to function as a whole, with each individual doing their part so that the entire Body of Christ is edified (Ephesians 4:12-16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
9. Leaders in the Church: Church leaders and ministers of all positions derive their authority from Jesus. They are to walk worthy of his calling, conducting themselves in ways that their character and example are in accordance with requirements for leadership described in Timothy and Titus (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:1-9). They are to have a good reputation inside and outside of the Church.
10. Equipping believers to be able to study and evaluate on their own: God wants everyone to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Believers are to be diligent to rightly handle the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15). We take our responsibility as ministers of the Gospel very seriously, not only to teach biblical doctrine but also to teach believers how to study the Scriptures and to evaluate for themselves what they believe from the Word of God and why they believe it.
11. God and Jesus Win: God is love; He is good and righteous. He is not the author of evil, sin or suffering. When the “first Adam” made his free-will decision to disobey God, he transferred his God-given dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:27-30) to the Devil, Satan (Matthew 4:8-9). Satan is now the “god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4); the world is now under his dominating power (1 John 5:19), which is why bad things happen to good people. When Jesus returns, he will eventually destroy the Devil and put an end to evil. He will reign in all eternity.
