Rich Lauer has broad leadership experience with people and formative ideas combined with a keen, long-term interest in Christianity. A hallmark of his professional executive career was the success in developing high performing teams in large and small organizations utilizing Christian principles. His multigenerational family legacy of Christian clergy provided a strong backdrop for decades of personal journey to discover, apply, and share God’s truth.
Educated in industrial and systems engineering with human factors specialization, Rich’s career passed through manufacturing to logistics operations supporting companies in retail, electronic and direct sales channels. From engineering he progressed through various operations roles leading to President and CEO of a major North American distribution company. The keys to success at all levels included an appreciation for being hands-on with a willingness to fill whatever role was lacking. A high priority was encouraging an appropriate culture conducive to developing individuals working together for a common purpose which yielded many success stories.
Rich is convinced that outstanding ideas and results originate from God. Bringing those ideas into an effective reality requires humble and capable people who are willing to work hard with each other to achieve a common purpose. The purpose of LiveCharis is a noble one, worth great effort with mutual respect and appreciation for all involved.
When the work and effort takes a pause, in warmer seasons you will likely find Rich biking with his wife Sandy or possibly kayaking. In colder times they might be on a hiking trail. And the woodworking shop always beckons! While there is always more to do than there is time, nothing is more worthwhile than serving the Lord.
Nonprofits and startups need lots of help with work and ideas. Perhaps the most important need is willingness. Willingness to become known by each other, to help fill a gap, to share an observation, or suggest an idea. Please reach out to all of us and help make this a great and effective adventure in serving others.
Sue Carlson is a dedicated Christian leader, teacher and pastor with decades of experience in Christian ministry. She also brings strength in skills of governance and compliance, organizational development and finance, all of which are needed for the start-up ministry of LiveCharis. LiveCharis is dedicated to teaching Gospel truth and nurturing believers. Sue is passionate and capable in each of those dedications.
Sue’s “secular” career focused on accounting and finance, including accounting software “selection, implementation and training” projects for large and small companies. Teaching has been a central thread through all of her efforts. Her favorite position, and the one from which she retired, was as Chief Financial Officer for a start-up IT services firm, assisting the founder and CEO in growing the company’s assets, building staff, establishing policies, implementing processes, and managing the finances. The CEO was the vision behind the company; Sue brought his vision into actuality.
When Sue isn’t volunteering for LiveCharis, she is enjoying the view of Lake Erie, where she lives in the Cleveland area, or the canals of Cape Coral, FL, doing yard-work which she and her husband both enjoy, or entertaining friends and family. As an equestrian since childhood, although no longer actively riding, she might be spotted at a stable, just to bask in the sight and smell of a horse.
Sue values input from many counsellors and knows that as a start-up nonprofit religious organization LiveCharis needs that. She welcomes all input, so please reach out.
David Carlson brings to LiveCharis a wealth of financial and non-profit experience, along with a deep desire to be of service to others. David owned a property and casualty insurance agency for over 37 years, serving in excess of 4000 clients. Following the sale of that agency in 2017, his insurance focus changed toward serving the ‘senior’ community in the Medicare Insurance arena, seen by many as a very complicated array of choices and options.
In the not-for-profit world, David served as President/Board Chair of two different Community Chambers of Commerce, the local Public Library, the local Rotary Club, and a Ski Club. Currently, David serves as Assistant Treasurer for the Euclid Schools Foundation, an organization dispensing scholarships and grants to students and teachers. He has a history of an inability to say ‘No’ when asked to serve or volunteer! It is this energy and verve that David brings to the Board of LiveCharis.
David, along with his wife Sue, reside in Euclid, Ohio, on the ‘North Coast’ of America. His hobbies include boating, skiing, landscaping and home repairs, which is a ‘good thing’ as there’s always something(s) that needs fixing!
David sees his position and presence with LiveCharis to be an honor and a privilege, as we have been told by Jesus to “Feed my sheep!” His desire is for us to work together, to grow God’s family, and along with LiveCharis, He can do just that on behalf of the many individuals and churches that have such great needs. Reach out to David at through the Contact Us Page. He would welcome a conversation with you!
Robert Evans is a sincere Christian that has been interested in the study and research of the Bible for the last couple of decades. He feels very strongly that the lessons contained in the Bible can be applied successfully to everyday business management and personal needs with great success.
His original education was in chemistry, physics, and mathematics but he gradually migrated to computer technology while studying these fields. Over his 50-year career Robert has been involved in information technology, merchandising, marketing, finance, distribution, and manufacturing. He has been involved with the design, installation, start up, and management of dozens of large-scale data centers. One of these multisite centers which he managed as CIO - chief information officer, spanned 37 countries including the US and served over 200 million households as a direct consumer business.
He believes management needs to be seen as a servant’s role to enable the members of the business team to successfully accomplish their missions. Also, leadership is best carried out on the front lines being directly involved with a business on a day-to-day basis. Again, these are godly principles that need to be applied for successful, and ethical management of a business.
Robert believes that God calls all Christians to use their God-given talents to bring people to salvation through Jesus Christ, a greater knowledge of the Bible, and to help people in need. LiveCharis provides the perfect platform to accomplish these goals.
